My wife and I both took advantage of getting Global Entry last year, using the perk of our Citi® / AAdvantage® Executive World Elite™ MasterCard® to get each of our $100 enrollment fee reimbursed. If you don't know what Global Entry is, it is basically a program that lasts 5 years once enrolled, and allows you to fast track through immigration when traveling internationally, as well as get through domestic security lines quicker since Global Entry gives you TSA Pre-Check status.
Anyway, since we both have Global Entry, we decided to get it for our daughter, especially with several upcoming international trips in the pipeline. However, Global Entry requires a face-to-face interview with an immigration officer, with the closest major city to us having interviews available being Atlanta. You know what that means... TRIP!
We'll use a long weekend to do the interview as well as meet up with some friends and family in the area. We've already booked flights using our Southwest Companion Pass (psssst, the SW Plus Card is available again, so you might want to jump on it!) and will be booking 2 nights at a hotel (TBD), but need to book a rental car as well. Enter Autoslash.com.
I've never used Autoslash before, but have heard good things about it. I had even suggested it to my sister, who benefitted from Autoslash slashing her week long minivan rental down a couple of bucks when her entire family came out to visit. Due to having National Executive Club membership, I opted first to reserve with them and see how Autoslash panned out. Yikes, close to $100/day!
I immediately went to the Autoslash website, and entered my rental information under the 'track a rental you booked somewhere else' tab. The reservation with National was an outrageously high price, as I booked disregarding the lower prices and only for my status, so within minutes, I received an email from Autoslash informing me of lower prices.
I then clicked on one of the $76.11 priced links and was taken to Autoslash for a direct booking through them. However, I wanted to make sure that I had exhausted all of my available options -- Kayak, Priceline, Hotwire, etc. None of those were any cheaper. Now I've also heard good things about costcotravel.com, so they were the last site I checked. And guess what, Costco hooked me up with the same Intermediate Car, from the same rental company for $72.13! Booyah, another $3.98 in savings!
However, I didn't stop there. I went back to Autoslash once more, inputted this new Costco reservation information under the same tracking tab, and once again, Autoslash came through.
Boom! So this is where we now stand, $53.80 for a 2-day rental in HotLANTA!
If you're in need of renting a car, use Autoslash, you won't regret it. We went from an inflated price of $201.38, down to $53.80, for a 2-day car rental. The best part about it, is that I could still get another email from Autoslash giving us an even lower quote!
Although we won't have the ability to choose our own car from the "Emerald Isle", we can rest assure that we are getting the cheapest price. Plus, we won't actually pay for anything as we will be using travel credits from our Barclay Arrival+ Card! Trip report post-trip forthcoming!
Have you used Autoslash before? Have you had a good or bad experience?
